The city of Mechelen boasts more than a few little gems in the world of retail therapy so make some time to spend some euros whilst you're there.

As well as some fashionable boutiques the city has some very delicious specialities available. Visit Schockeart, Mechelen's speciality cheese shop on the Ijzerlaan. For other delicacies, why not try visiting Goestling Delicatessen on Geitestraat.

Trendy shops

On your travels, visit fashionable Vismarkt and drop in on Paté Du Chef, which despite its culinary sounding name is not a restaurant. In fact this is a trendy shop selling original keepsakes and memorabilia from the 1950's and 1960's. Located in a period house and objects are charmingly scattered all over in no particular order.
